Close-Up Magician in Luxembourg

Close-up magic is magic you can almost touch. There is no stage and no distance: the impossible happens a few centimetres from your eyes, sometimes in your own hands. Christian Lavey here – close-up is the heart of what I do as a professional magician in Luxembourg, and it is the kind of experience your guests will remember long after the event.

What exactly is close-up magic?

With stage magic, the performer stands in front of the audience. With close-up, I come to your guests – to a small group at the bar, to a table during dinner, to people chatting on the terrace. That creates an intimate atmosphere and makes every spectator part of the magic instead of just watching it.

My speciality is card magic, but I also work with coins and with mentalism: thoughts, choices and predictions that seem impossible to know. Each routine is chosen and rehearsed so that it works perfectly in a real party setting, with noise, movement and people coming and going.

Why it works so well at events

  • It breaks the ice. Guests who have never met start talking, laughing and comparing theories.
  • It fits around your programme. Close-up does not interrupt dinner or speeches; it fills the moments in between.
  • It needs no technology. No stage, no sound system, no lights – I perform wherever your guests are.
  • It crosses languages. I perform in English, French and German, and much of the magic is visual, which helps when guests come from many countries.

Occasions for close-up magic

Weddings

During the drinks reception, while the couple is having photos taken, or between courses at the tables. Read more on my page about wedding magic in Luxembourg.

Corporate events

Welcome drinks, client evenings, Christmas parties or trade fair stands: close-up gets colleagues and customers talking to each other. See my corporate event magic.

Private parties

A birthday, an anniversary or a dinner with friends – close-up turns a nice evening into a memorable one. More on my page for birthday parties and private celebrations.

Dinners and restaurants

Table magic between courses or during the aperitif turns a dinner into a small dinner show.

Close-up or a stage show?

Close-up is ideal when guests are standing, mingling or seated at several tables. A stand-up show is better when you want everyone to experience one shared moment at the same time. Many events combine both: close-up during the reception, then a show after dinner. Tell me about your schedule and we will find the right mix.

Planning tips

  • Let me know roughly how many guests you expect and how long the reception or dinner lasts, so we can plan enough time for everyone to see some magic.
  • Share the seating plan or the layout of the room in advance.
  • Tell me which languages your guests speak.
